Naughty Goat

This is Petrucchio, named after the lover in Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew" because he was always so lovable and wanted to cuddle when he was young. Looks sweet and humble doesn't he??? Ha!!! He has you fooled! He's a little rascal and has been picking on his brother, beating him up, keeping him away from food and shelter, in short, being a typical dominating goat!

This is Puck, fraternal twin to Petrucchio and named after
the imp in Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream". Is he an imp??? Well, yes, at least he used to be. Puck has taken his turn at dominating his brother, and he was always the goat to get into trouble first. He escaped from every fence I put up, got into the flower garden, butted heads with the horses, butted people he wasn't sure he liked; you get the idea... But now they are almost 13 years old, and Puck is starting to show his age. He has trouble keeping weight on, and just doesn't move as fast as he used to. So he really needs his food and shelter. So.... what to do???

Well, I decided to divide the goat's stall into 2 sections. This way I can keep them separate during feeding, at night, and in bad weather, and they will both have food and shelter. Last night was the first night they tried the new system and they are not too sure about it. I kept Puck in the closed stall and Petrucchio could go in and out of the regular stall. Puck did a lot of "MAAA-ing"! I may switch them tonight and see how that works. This is Puck trying to figure out if he can open the gate! (He couldn't!) I'll keep you posted on progress!
